We export coir worldwide. This page sets out exactly how an international order is quoted, paid for, documented, shipped, cleared through customs and — if it comes to it, returned.

Angalamman Traders accepts orders from customers outside India and exports to most countries. Coir fibre, coir pith, coir rope, coir mats and coir twine are all available for export, whether as a single parcel or as a full container load.
International orders are accepted from any country not listed in section 10 below. If you are unsure whether we can reach you, ask us before you pay — we will confirm serviceability and quote freight in writing.
Our published web prices cover the goods only and are quoted for delivery within India. Because international freight depends on weight, volume, destination and mode, we quote it per order rather than charging a flat rate at checkout.
For sample quantities we can often ship on the published price plus a documented courier charge, with no proforma step. Ask and we will tell you which route is cheaper.
All our prices are set and charged in Indian Rupees (INR). This is the amount that appears on your proforma invoice and the amount we are paid.
If you pay with a card issued outside India, your bank converts the INR amount into your own currency at its exchange rate on the day it settles the transaction, and may add its own foreign transaction or cross-border fee. That rate and that fee are set by your card issuer, not by us. The figure on your statement will therefore differ slightly from any indicative conversion we show you, and we cannot control or reimburse the difference.
International card payments are processed by our payment gateway over an encrypted connection. We never see or store your full card number — see our Privacy Policy.
Freight is quoted per order. What drives the price:
We pass on the carrier’s rate plus our documented handling cost. We do not mark freight up as a hidden margin, and we will show you the carrier quotation if you ask.
For orders above roughly 500 KG, sea freight is almost always dramatically cheaper than air. We will tell you when that is the case even though it means a slower delivery.
Transit time is counted from dispatch, not from the date you order, and excludes the time a consignment spends in customs at your end — which we cannot predict or control.
| Destination | Air / courier | Sea freight |
|---|---|---|
| Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal | 3–6 days | 10–18 days |
| Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain) | 4–8 days | 12–20 days |
| South-East Asia, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong | 5–9 days | 15–25 days |
| United Kingdom and European Union | 6–12 days | 28–40 days |
| United States and Canada | 7–14 days | 32–48 days |
| Australia and New Zealand | 7–14 days | 25–38 days |
| Africa and South America | 10–18 days | 35–55 days |
These are working-day estimates from our carriers, not guarantees. Customs inspection, port congestion, weather, strikes and public holidays at either end can extend them materially. We will not treat an order as late, or refund freight, on account of a customs hold.
All import duties, taxes, VAT/GST, customs brokerage and clearance charges levied by the destination country are payable by you, the buyer. They are not included in our prices and not included in the freight we quote.
We ship on DAP (Delivered at Place) terms unless your proforma invoice says otherwise: we pay to get the goods to your address, you pay everything the importing country charges on arrival. We can quote DDP terms, where we pre-pay duties, for some destinations — ask.
You are the importer of record. It is your responsibility to know whether your country permits the import of coir products, and to hold any import licence or registration your own law requires. Please check before you pay, because:
We declare the true transaction value on every commercial invoice. We will not undervalue a shipment, mark goods as a gift, or alter a declaration to reduce your duty. Those are customs offences in both countries and we will decline the request.
Every export consignment travels with:
Phytosanitary certification. Coir is a plant product. Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, the European Union and several other jurisdictions require a phytosanitary certificate — and in some cases fumigation or heat treatment — before coir fibre or coir pith may be imported. We arrange certification through the plant-quarantine authority and pass on the actual fee. It typically adds 3–7 working days before dispatch. Tell us your destination at quotation stage so we can build this into the timeline rather than surprising you with it.
Fibre and pith are compressed into bales; pith is also available in 5 KG blocks. Export consignments are wrapped to survive handling and sea air, but deliberately remain breathable — sealed plastic traps moisture and coir will develop mould in a container over a long voyage.
Where a destination enforces ISPM-15 on wood packaging, we use only heat treated and stamped pallets, or we palletise on moulded pressed pallets that fall outside the standard. Either way the consignment will not be refused at the border for its packing.
Your order number works on our order tracking page exactly as a domestic one does — enter it with the email address you used when ordering. Once we dispatch, the carrier’s international tracking number is recorded against the order and shown there.
For sea freight we send the bill of lading and the vessel details by email, and the shipping line’s own portal will carry the container movement.
We do not ship to any country or party subject to sanctions or export restrictions under Indian law, United Nations Security Council resolutions, or the sanctions regimes our carriers and banks are bound by. We screen international orders against those lists before dispatch.
We also cannot ship where our carriers do not operate, where the destination prohibits the import of coir or untreated plant material, or where an active conflict, embargo or postal suspension makes delivery impossible. If your order falls into any of these categories we will tell you and refund you in full, before dispatch.
Carriers normally attempt delivery up to three times. If a consignment cannot be delivered because the address was wrong, nobody was available, duties went unpaid, or the shipment was refused without cause, it is returned to us or abandoned at destination.
Where goods are returned to us in resalable condition we refund the goods value less the actual outbound freight, the return freight, and any storage, demurrage or destruction charges the carrier or customs authority levies. These costs are real and are often a large fraction of an international order — please make sure your address, phone number and any import registration are correct before you pay.
Our Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to international orders, with these additions:
International orders are worth a conversation before money changes hands. Tell us the destination and the quantity and we will tell you honestly what it will cost, how long it will take, and what your customs authority is likely to ask for. Reach us on the contact page.
